‘A Woman Builds a Land’ is a video and sound work inspired by the the character of Ada Fishman Maimon – a relative of mine I didn’t know.

Ada was a warrior for women’s rights, during establishment of the Israeli state. Founder of the ‘Female workers’ movement and the first woman parliament member. Her character remained unknown and forgotten, since she asked by will not to be perpetuated in public establishments.

My intention was to bring her world into our time – a visual world with a doubt about its existence. Her original texts and private photo collection, were the basis for the video reproductions and soundtrack. The project formed into a visual interpretation of personal-political manifesto by incorporating narration, chant, and sound.
