Soft Dependency

Advisor: Prof. de Lange Chanan

A soft hinge in a chair

The chair’s frame holds a relationship, establishing hierarchy between the frame and the hinge. As the relationship changes, the hierarchy is undermined. A soft hinge connects the parts of the frame, creating structural tension and at the same time producing movement. Soft dependency between the elements allows fluid movement within which the system will remain stable.
